Energy

Thanks to its geographical position and climate, Greece is an attractive destination for investments in renewable energy sources (RES).

During the past decade, this led to very high prices for electricity generated, especially in the field of photovoltaics, and created fertile ground for domestic and foreign investment. The result was a surfeit of licenses for such investments.

On account of the current economic situation, many of these licenses (or exemptions) which had been granted in previous years, expired and prices fell significantly. In the meantime, the licensing procedure for such investments has been simplified and, at the present moment, due to the lack of liquidity of Greek banks, the financing of these types of projects has become extremely difficult.

The upshot is that the economic situation which has arisen in Greece in recent years favors development through the attraction of new investments in the sector of RES.

More specifically, the policy of the Greek government is geared toward the creation of a strategic advantage that will facilitate the growth of renewable energy sources (photovoltaic, wind power, geothermal and bioenergy) up to 2020.

With the support of our network, AP & Generalis provides services to a number of foreign companies active in the energy sector, especially with regard to the following:

  • Implementation of renewable energy projects (wind farms, photovoltaic parks, biomass processing facilities, water and thermal energy installations)
  • Public and private investment contracts
  • Contracting agreements
  • Confidentiality agreements
  • Letters of Intent
  • Legal and financial/technical studies and checks
